What to Ask Your Barber: Making the Most of Your Haircut at Scuttlebutt
Not sure what to say when you sit in the barber chair? You’re not alone — and that’s totally okay.
At Scuttlebutt Barbershop in Portsmouth, we keep things easy and laid-back, but here are a few questions you can ask to make sure you walk out loving your cut:
“What style do you think works best for my hair type?”
“Can you keep it low-maintenance?” Great if you don’t want to spend time styling daily.
“How often should I come in to keep this looking clean?”
“What do you recommend for my beard?” Whether it’s a trim, reshape, or full shave — we’ve got you.
“What’s the difference between a taper and a fade?” (We love these kinds of questions!)
It’s also totally fine to show photos or say, “I’m not sure what I want.” We’ll talk it out.
And hey — if it’s humid or salty from the seacoast weather, we can suggest styles that hold up in Portsmouth’s climate.
The key is honesty and trust. We're not just your Portsmouth barber, we're your teammate in looking sharp.
Ask questions, speak up, and relax — this is your time in the chair. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, we’re here to make it your best cut yet.
